The apartment is fully equipped, and the rest is minutes away: the bakery at the door, supermarkets in the same street, the beach down the hill. A rental car is well worth it on Madeira for exploring the island — and you have your own garage space for it.

Cristo Rei in 12 minutesAt the bottom of Garajau the statue of Christ stands on the cliff, arms open above the ocean. Twelve minutes on foot from the front door.
Beach, snorkelling and divingA cable car takes you down to the pebble beach. The water is part of a protected marine reserve — wonderful snorkelling, and there is a dive school for scuba.
The bakery at your doorTwo minutes on foot and you are at the bakery. In the same street: three supermarkets, a pharmacy, a pizzeria, sushi and a handful of other places to eat, a hairdresser, massage and nail salon.
Bus to Praia dos Reis MagosRight at the door, by the bakery, the bus leaves for Reis Magos: a lively seafront promenade with a row of restaurants and terraces worth lingering on.
Bus to Funchal — €2.65The stop is at the entrance of the complex and the ride takes about half an hour. Uber or Bolt costs €8–12.
Your own garage spaceMadeira is easiest to explore by car. You have a private space in the underground garage, so parking is never a hunt.

The apartment

A place you settle into at once.

Light, roomy and fully furnished. A kitchen equipped down to the dishwasher and washing machine, a wide sofa with chaise longue, a double bed made for sleeping in, and a balcony where you have breakfast looking over the pool. Everything is ready — all you do is open the door.

Booking and paying for a trail, 2026

Since 1 January 2026 every classified PR trail on Madeira requires a reservation in advance, through the regional government's SIMplifica portal. You choose a 30-minute entry window and pay per person, per trail, per day.

Open the SIMplifica booking page and pick your trail.
Choose the date and a 30-minute entry slot — slots run from sunrise to sunset and the popular trails sell out.
Enter your email address and the number of walkers.
Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or MB Way. The standard fee is €4.50 per person; PR1 (Pico do Areeiro) is higher.
You receive a QR code by email. Save it to your phone before you leave — there is often no signal at the trailhead.
Show the QR code if you are checked. Walking without a reservation is an offence and can mean a fine.

Book on SIMplifica Residents of Madeira are exempt from the fee but still need a reservation. Walking with a licensed guide is cheaper. Trail status changes after heavy rain or landslides — always check SIMplifica and the official trail page the day before you go.
